Committees & Monthly Meetings

Get involved, and help our community by contacting one of the volunteers below, or come to the next meeting! Specific meeting dates are announced in our monthly newsletter, but general meeting times are listed below.

Crime Prevention: Meets the third Wednesday of each month to share information and to coordinate action. New block representatives wanted; if interested contact Carolyn Boitnott at 410-522-4991.

Education Committee: BHA supports two elementary/middle schools in the neighborhood. Currently no chairperson. If interested, contact Beth Braun or Carolyn Boitnott.

House Tour: Responsible for organizing the annual house tour held in the fall. Contact Pat Phoebus 410-327-1610. Meets the second Wednesday of each month at 200 S. Chester St.

Flea Market Committee: Responsible for organizing and running the annual spring and fall flea markets. Contact Emily Augustine. Check the newsletter for meeting times and locations.

Land Use: Reviews construction proposals that go before the Zoning Board and exterior work proposed in our City historic blocks. Homeowners in the 2100 and 2200 blocks of E. Baltimore Street and the 2200 block of E. Pratt Street live in a City historic district. All exterior work and painting must be submitted to CHAP and Butchers Hill. We are always happy to help with any questions you may have. Contact Virgil Bartram 410-327-4964. Meets the second Monday of every month, generally in the white house in Patterson Park.

Streetscape Committee: Works to keep the Butchers Hill community looking great. Contact Andrew Crummey or Betsy Wadsworth. The committee meets the first Tuesday of every month.

Citizens on Patrol: Butchers Hill Citizens on Patrol (C.O.P.) has regularly patrolled the neighborhood for over six years, and conducts its walk arounds on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. Meet at 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Patterson Park Avenue and Lombard Street. All are welcome. For more information, please contact Evan Helfrich at 410-342-2148.
